Writing a blog should be like riding a bike for me. I’ve been writing and editing papers since I was in the second grade and a junior high teacher swiped my work to teach older kids how to write properly.
I thought I would put my composition skills to good use when I went to law school after college and joined the Marine Corps as an officer, but neither of those things happened and I instead landed at my dad’s printing and graphics company as the Ringleader.
I have started and stopped writing many blogs since that time, but could never find direction for the writing. Even now, my Medium blog is just a hodgepodge of random thought and inspiration.
My whole life, I was trained to write a certain way and so stepping out of that school of thought has left me blindsided with the reality that writing is as creative as painting or sculpting or dancing.
A few days ago, I heard a successful blogger say that creating a blog was like dating (something I haven’t had to do for almost a decade) - just try ideas until something sticks.
But I have so many ideas, I don’t know where to start. So, I am going to release all of them like a zoo full of animals in cages and see which do well in the wild and which need to go back in their boxes.
